I recently purchased this model and used it on a trip last week. It worked quite well. My questions have to do with the memory card slot. Is it necessary to by the Garmin labeled cards or will all aftermarket cards work? I’m not interested in the MP3 or electronic book capabilities. What will be gained by extra memory? To navigate in the the continental US are the standard maps sufficient or should I consider any of the mapsource upgrades. Thanks for any and all help. NO, you do not... more
Cannot configure my Nuvi 350 with S&T 2007 because it is looking for a GPS on the serial port not USB. Is there a way in which I can configure my GPS. The Nuvi is designed as a standalone unit, reporting current position to a connected computer (via serial or USB) is a functionality that it simply does not support. So the additional software that helps with other Garmin handheld GPS (Franson GPSGate) will not help with the Nuvi (or similar, e.g. Zumo, Street Pilots etc.) AKPC_IDS += "488,";Popularity:... more

Or is it really only for in vehicle use? A fully charged Nuvi 350 will run for several hours on its internal battery. Maybe not enough for a hike, but it will certainly operate outside a vehicle. There may be a way to rig-up an external battery pack to a USB connection or hub, and keep it going longer. It is possible to enter “points... more

I’m planning to go to Europe and have already for the City Navigator Europe on my PC. I also downloaded the latest Mapsource software from Garmin, but when i go to install it, it says “no previous mapsource version found, installation will abort”. So, does that mean that there is a standalone Mapsource software that i need to get? Even if i get that... more
As I stated in another post, I’m looking for my first GPS. I’m still pretty ignorant, but learning… Been looking at the Nuvi 350, so far like what I see. What I can’t find in the reviews and specs (Maybe I don’t know where to look?) is whether or not I can load additional maps from different countries. I see that it comes with North American maps and that maps of Europe are available, but I specifically am looking for maps of Australia. Also, anybody have the Nuvi... more
