I own a Nuvi 205W and bought a non-original but compatible AC wall charger, but it doesn’t work. When I connect the wall charger into the Nuvi, the battery icon flashes sometimes – which might indicate that at least the GPS unit “knows” there’s a charger connected, but it won’t charge the GPS battery. I recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 205 and I am happy with it. It gets some instructions wrong and the way it handles waypoints is slightly annoying (telling me to make a u-turn when I pass the waypoint) but maybe I have more to learn because, as I learn more about it I am able to get it to work the route more the way that I want it to be. Of course, I know that someday soon these devices will have an interface more like Internet map tools that let you drag and drop the route to include road selections... more
