I own a Nuvi 205W and bought a non-original  but compatible AC wall charger, but it doesn’t work.  When I connect the wall charger into the Nuvi, the battery icon flashes sometimes – which might indicate that at least the GPS unit “knows” there’s a charger connected, but it won’t charge the GPS battery. AC wall charger has exactly the same specs of the car charger (output 5V, 1A).  Car charger that came with the Nuvi works fine. If it was a defective AC wall... more

I recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 205 and I am happy with it. It gets some instructions wrong and the way it handles waypoints is slightly annoying (telling me to make a u-turn when I pass the waypoint) but maybe I have more to learn because, as I learn more about it I am able to get it to work the route more the way that I want it to be. Of course, I know that someday soon these devices will have an interface more like Internet map tools that let you drag and drop the route to include road selections... more
